🥰 One of my favourite couples boudoir shoots has to be with Gemma & David. 💫
I first met David & Gemma a few years ago when David surprised Gemma with a surprise boudoir shoot with me for her 40th birthday — complete with big rose gold “40” helium balloons (the balloons were his idea — and thanks to him, they’ve been a studio staple ever since!) 🎈💋
Fast forward to 2023… and they returned to celebrate their wedding anniversary with me, this time for a couples boudoir experience.
While Gemma was in makeup, we chatted about life, love, and ideas for the shoot. After makeup was finished, we got cracking with the shoot and created an artistic mix of romantic body portraits, music playing and my signature studio lighting flashing to the trigger of my camera. It was fun!! ✨
After the shoot I sent David and Gemma a link to their preview gallery… Honestly — it’s something we’re all proud of.
What touched me most was when Gemma & David said they wanted to share their photos publicly. As many of you know, I never share private work unless clients explicitly ask — so this was such a rare and wonderful gift. 💞

3am. I lie completely still — gripping the covers, fists tight, tension in my neck and jaw, eyes wide open. Adrenaline rushes through me; I feel connected to every fizzing molecule.
I thought I’d already done the hard work of life — the heartbreaks. I figured I’d earned a rest from self-discovery. But here I am, at 52, learning more about myself in my coffin of anger.
Simon. I’m so cross with you.
My brother died last year, age 52, of alcoholism. The trauma is hard to bear.
My beloved nephew — Simon’s son — has lost his dad. 🥹 That child has a right to know his father’s people.
So here I am, awake at 3am, my mind spinning with angry grief.
I know I’m not alone. We all have those moments of 3am anxiety, right?
I’ve realised my deep emotions don’t like the light; they wake me up, tormenting me. My anger is like a coat — heavy and wet from a storm — I long to hang it up to dry.
Anger disguises itself as control, silence, self-criticism. I bury it, but it rises again — in my words, reactions, the strain on my body.
Listen. Learn.
So I listen. And in that quiet, resilient space.
If you’re awake at 3am, buzzing with anger or grief, don’t rush to silence it.
Listen. Let it move through you.
We can use that energy to grow stronger — not in muscle, but in mindset. When we stop running and really listen, there’s power there.
I’ve decided to use that power to
Love more fiercely.
Feel more connected to my body.
Growth doesn’t happen in the light. It happens in the lonely, uncomfortable dark at 3am — the place we become who we’re meant to be.

🎈 40th Birthday Boudoir Photoshoot Balloons 🎈
Birthday balloons are such a fun, playful accessory to add to your boudoir photoshoot — especially when you’re celebrating something major like your 40th / 50th / 60th /70th! birthday.
I’ve created a full series of flattering poses with balloons: standing, kneeling, sitting, even lying down — where you can either hold your balloons with pride or let them float around you while we wrap your body into the most beautiful shapes.
It’s creative, sensual, and so much fun. ✨
My personal favourite?
Rose gold balloons.
They pair beautifully with my artistic, backlit studio lighting and add a stunning glow to your skin, whether you’re in lingerie, a body harness, or nothing at all.
The light catches the foil and creates this dreamy shimmer that flatters every curve. Trust me, the results are 🔥.
I first started using balloons in shoots a few years ago when a client’s husband, David, added them to his wife Gemma’s session as a surprise.
When the balloons arrived, Gemma was over the moon — and honestly, so was I!
We spent the shoot experimenting with artistic body shots: sometimes Gemma nude, sometimes draped in delicate lingerie, always powerful, always beautiful.
Since then, I’ve encouraged my birthday clients to bring balloons to accessorise their birthday boudoir shoots.
It’s become a bit of a signature look — a mix of celebration, sensuality, and art.
One of my favourite shoots ever was a “body oil & balloons” session — the balloon colour rubbed off onto my client’s skin and it looked like body paint!🎨

I’ve had a shift in mindset…

For years, I believed my body was mine. That it belonged to me — something I had full control over. We say, “My body, my choice.” And those words do matter.

But now… I see something deeper.

I don’t think I own my body anymore.
⠀
I think I’m its caretaker. A steward. My body isn’t a possession — it’s a vessel for something much bigger:

Love.

When I care for my body now, it’s not about vanity or selfishness. It’s about staying strong for the people who rely on me.

As a mum, my body has created, carried, and supported life.
⠀
As a business owner — especially as a boudoir photographer — my body is the tool I use to serve others. It lifts, moves, creates, comforts, and welcomes.

As a partner, my body connects me to love, intimacy, and shared joy.
⠀
As a daughter, my body helps me care for my aging parents.
⠀
My body is how I show up.
For work. For love. For life.

So no — I don’t think my body is mine anymore.

My body is owned by Love.

By the love I give.
The love I receive.
The love that moves through my family, my relationships, my purpose.

Every January feels like a reset for me, ✨ does it feel the same for you?
A chance to reprogram my mind.
Begin again. 🌱
Heres’s what I was thinking on my run today…
I remembered how I started my photography business, fresh out of university.
Full of belief 📷 I was fearless, I had no doubt!
I grew my business FYEO Portraits
And became a mum at the same time. 🤍
I don’t know why but I hid the juggling…
Trying to look like I had it all together I guess.
Then life changed.
My second child was my gorgeous daughter was born with a cleft lip and palate.
Hospitals replaced normality.
My then husband and I felt differently about the news.
Resentment crept in
And eventually we got divorced.
I felt ashamed.
Like I was letting everyone down
Then another chapter,during my divorce
my lovely son was diagnosed with a pituitary tumour at 18.
Life asked even more of me. Sometimes I still wonder why.
At one point I ran studios across the UK…
Big teams, big turnover, national advertising.
After divorce I chose something different
To reshape
Refocus
Reframe
Nowadays I work from my specialist studio near Marlow.
With incredible women.
Women rebuilding themselves.
Just like I did 🌸 just like you?
I’m happier than I’ve ever been
With my children, now in their twenties.
And my new husband!
I share this because Instagram can look shiny, can’t it?
But real life is layered.
Messy!
Still beautiful ✨

In 2023, I did something that scared the absolute life out of me —
I self-published my own boudoir photography book.
To this day, it’s the work I’m most proud of.
But I’ve never really shared what it actually meant to make it happen — or how much it changed me.
At the time, I had zero confidence in my career. Everything felt uncertain.
After Covid — and a lot of personal change — my creative path had taken a complete handbrake turn.
I needed to pause, to reflect, to figure out where I’d come from and what my art had become.
That reflection turned into ‘The Queen of Boudoir’.
Launch day.
I opened the first box of books from the printer with shaking hands… and cried.
Happy tears. Grateful tears. Relief. Pride.
Because I knew exactly what it had cost me to get there.
Years, decades of work.
Months of 5 a.m. starts.
Thousands of photo edits.
Laying out the entire book myself — in design software I’d never touched before.
And then there was navigating Amazon’s publishing hurdles for a global eBook — a tedious, stressful nightmare that nearly broke me! 😅
But I was determined, because I had a dream.

for believing so fiercely in something no one else could see yet.

🚀Bride to be Danielle was the SECRET STRIPPER at her own husband’s stag do… Here’s her story!
Right after Covid with restrictions marginally eased, no entertainment was allowed at functions, including the stag do...
The best man called her in a panic. They hatched the secret stripper plan together.
They planned it perfectly. Danielle ordered this high-shine PVC catsuit and a mask that made her look like a mysterious troublemaker. She styled her hair completely differently and practiced her sexy dance.
On the night, she slipped through the side entrance, music hit, and in she strutted—full confidence, full chaos, fully enjoying herself. The best man nearly lost it trying not to laugh.
And her husband? Not a clue.
Danielle could’ve been a complete stranger. She stayed in character the entire time, giving her best performance purely for the fun of it. Then she disappeared as quickly as she arrived 😂
The two of them kept quiet. Not a whisper.
Then came the wedding.
During the speeches, the best man paused, smirking like he’d been waiting for this. “Before I carry on,” he said, “the stripper from the stag do realised she left something behind. She’s actually here to collect it.”
Every head in the room swung towards the door.
And that’s when Danielle stood up.
The place erupted. Gasps. Her husband stared at her like he’d just witnessed the twist ending of a film. Danielle simply grinned, soaking up every second.
Danielle booked her boudoir photo sheet with me to create a surprise anniversary wedding gift for her again unsuspecting husband.
She zipped back into it, and instantly that same bold, bubbly, unstoppable energy filled the studio.
Because once you’ve revealed yourself as the secret stag-do stripper at your own wedding… the rest is just fun.
We had such great fun in the studio and the pictures are stunning!!

For this session, Lauren brought the most gorgeous lace gown, and as you’ll see, we used it in all sorts of creative ways. 🤍
